Arizona Supreme Court - Internship

Adult Probation Services Division

This non paid position is assigned to the Arizona Supreme Court and provides assistance to the Adult Probation Services Division Researcher with data collection, review, evaluation and implementation of organizational and system wide practices protocols relative to the agency's administrative oversight.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct literature reviews and write abstracts related to probation and the criminal justice field.
  • Use Excel and SPSS to conduct all data entry related to research project in a timely manner.
  • Assist with data collection.
  • Code data and data cleanup
  • Data Entry
  • Participate in committee and workgroup meetings.
  • Assist in reviewing and editing reports and forms.
  • Develop tables, charts, and graphs to communicate research results.
  • Code criminal histories.
  • Provide administrative support to the division Researcher.
  • Exposure to other courts and criminal agencies as a learning experience.
  • Develop externship portfolio.
  • Develop and present presentation of externship experience.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience/knowledge in the field of Criminal Justice, Courts, Policing, Probation, Community Supervision, or Parole (preferred, but not required).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Research skills (preferred, but not required).
  • Proficient in the use of a laptop, computer, and programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and control the flow of work, as well as work with minimal supervision.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

  • Must be able to complete externship requirements of a minimum of 9 - 12 hours per week.
  • Must be able to complete externship requirements within the academic semester.
  • Must be able to pass background and fingerprint clearance checks.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation as needed.
